What about the Raw Weather Station?

I'm from the UK, and we are obsessed with the weather, probably because we live for the odd day the sun pops out and burns our skin. Managing turf grass -and plant health in general- relies heavily on the micro-climate of your specific venue. Grounds managers focus on artificially re-creating optimal conditions, especially in challenging environments - using grow lights, irrigation, under-soil heating, and air movement fans, et cetera. The technology has a huge impact on the progress of pitches this past decade. However, to use this technology efficiently, you need to understand your own 'micro-climate' in detail. This helps you make informed decisions as when to act, but also, more importantly, helps you understand why things go wrong and how we can tackle the situation next time. Keeping track of your conditions inside your venue (and not from a weather station 2 miles away) helps you learn and looks back at conditions and explains questions, such as, why did I get this disease? Why is my plant not growing? Why is the plant stressed? When Jan and I started Raw Stadia, our idea was to collect data from every source which influences the plants’ health. Enabling this, Raw Stadia integrated the Raw Weather Station with the Raw Stadia Platform. The Raw Weather Station is a small pod which sits on your field wirelessly and collects all the relevant climatical data with ease. Providing our clients with data on rainfall amounts, duration, and intensity of rain. It also measures natural light, temperature, humidity, air pressure, air movement/wind and many more. To generate useful information with this data, Peter, our data analyst, has created several formulas for the Daily Light Integral (DLI). This totals your light amounts for each day and shows you how much artificial light you will need to add (if any). Disease risk shows when your plants are most susceptible to disease, growth potential. This allows you to see when your plant should be growing in optimal conditions, its growth degree days, and many more intriguing features. Probably my favorite feature is the possibility to see exactly when your plant has had dew settle on the pitch. I know… little things please little minds. The cool thing is, we can play with the data to create further formulas personalized for you. So, if you have an interest in how the weather influences your grass plant, let’s have a geeky conversation and create the perfect formula specifically for you. Anyway, I'm a little bit in love with the Raw Weather Station, and it’s included in our Raw Pitch package, if you'd like to understand more, just send us message or request your demo!
